Herman Patrick Candelaria

Herman Patrick Candelaria, 77, of Littleton, Colorado, passed away Friday, May 8, 2020 at Littleton Adventist Hospital. A celebration of life service will be planned at a later date due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Herman was born August 16, 1942 in Mancos, Colorado to Lawrence and Marie (Marez) Candelaria. He graduated from High School in 1957. Herman served our country in the U.S. Army in the Artillery Division. He was married to the former Hope Durfee and later remarried the former Jill Jolin. Herman was employed as an industrial manager at Gates Rubber Company and later Norgren where he took a different Industrial management position. He enjoyed going camping, fishing, enjoying the scenery of Colorado, and taking road trips with his family. He also enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. Herman was a man of all men and many adored his sense of humor and flirtatious behavior. He was never the type to turn away someone in need no matter what their situation was. His favorite saying was “Around this camp there is only one chief and the rest are Indians.” (he was insinuating that he was the “Chief”) He will be greatly missed but many of us have many fond memories and time spent with Herman. To his last day Dad always said “Candelarias nunca renunciar!” meaning Candelarias never quit.

Herman is survived by his three sons, Joseph Candelaria and his wife Patricia Munguia Candelaria, David Candelaria and his husband Felix Riggs, Justice Candelaria and his wife Ashlyn Candelaria, his four daughters Lori Candelaria, Deborah Candelaria, Kelsey Schaffer, Dalaney Schaffer, three sisters Christina Jiron, Jessica Zimmerman and husband Richard Zimmerman, Virginia Jaure, one brother Terry Candelaria, and many grandkids, great grandkids, nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; Lawrence and Marie Candelaria, Siblings; Ernest Candelaria, Richard Candelaria, Daniel Candelaria, Manuel Candelaria, Albert Candelaria, Johnny Candelaria, Clara Candelaria, Cora Candelaria, Helen Wilson Children; daughter Liberty Candelaria in 2008 and his son Patrick Candelaria in 2018.
