Hilda Grey, D. PH. Died on 4/27/22. She was 87 years old and lived a fascinating and rewarding life. She was a beautiful, charming, and most of all funny person who lived life with gusto and on her terms until the end. She will literally be missed by (almost) everyone she met.
Hilda was born April 23, 1935 to Albert and Beatrice Kasoll in Baltimore, MD. She had a sister Linda and her father was killed in a work related motor vehicle accident when Hilda was young. Her mother re-married to Meyer Gerch and Hilda gained a step sister Joannie.
Hilda excelled in school due to a fantastic memory and a very strong work ethic. She graduated from John’s Hopkins School of Nursing in 1956 and was by all accounts an excellent floor nourse. A much better nurse than her future husband. Howard Grey, MD was a clinical intern. Hilda would undoubtedly have been an excellent med student and physician. Hilda was the yin to Howie’s yang and her bubbly personality and effervescence greatly complimented her husband’s social awkwardness. They were married on New Year’s Eve (because that was their only common day off) and had an amazing life together.
Hilda had three in 30 months and was busy with that for several years. She was a fiercely loyal typical “Jewish mother” to her three sons, and life with Hilda was never boring. She cursed like a sailor at sporting events, but could also be Howie’s “secret weapon” at dinner parties where Hilda always made an incredible first impression.
