Jacques Arthur Plamondon, 87, of Denver, Colorado passed away 7/29/2024. He was the son of Leon A. and May Bartosch Plamondon, born on April 23, 1937. He is survived by his brother Rolland (Dorothy), and sister Elaine (Terry) Fitzgerald and four sons: Donald, Darrell (Marcy), David (Holly) and Shelton (Beth). Jacques was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Donna. He had seven grandchildren, many great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
Don, Darrell and David were sons from his first marriage to Barbara. Shelton was his adopted son from his marriage to Saundra. Though divorced, Saundra kept in touch with him and spent the past twelve years helping him with his medical and personal business after arranging his residence in independent living and then in memory care prior to his passing. The family is very grateful to her and their son for their continued devotion and assistance to him.
Jacques attended St Louis Grade School and South High School, Class of 1955. After graduating he took pride in joining the U.S. Navy Reserves. He was a Boy Scout leader for Shelton and a volunteer at Washington Park UMC Camp Rosalie for many years. He enjoyed traveling and took several trips with Ports of Call, one of which was to Peru.
He was a pattern maker and worked in his dad’s shop making molds for industrial products. He loved working with his hands, making objects out of wood. For a time, he also worked as a caregiver for the elderly. During his last marriage and retirement he enjoyed the outdoors and toiled in his garden growing vegetables and flowers. He also was a talented photographer and took many pictures of family, nature and his travels. He and his wife Elaine lived in Howard, in a church
that had been converted into a house, with a beautiful view of the San Juan Mountains. They enjoyed the nearby town and art community of Salida.
In his younger days he participated in Ju Jitsu and Karate. He became a Reiki Master and wrote the following self description called ‘Who Am I” as an explanation of his history: “I am a Colorado native and grew up in Denver. There I pursued a family trade as a fourth generation Master Pattern Maker, making the tooling used in foundries to mold metal castings. For 35 years I worked leaning over a bench or machine and suffered long hours of back pain. Medical doctors diagnosed the problem as Spondylolisthesis. an abnormality in which two vertebral bones are not correctly aligned - one is in front of the other. Surgery was not recommended and drugs and exercise were prescribed, neither of which were a satisfactory solution to the problem. A search of alternate answers led to Reiki which provided relief from the chronic problem. I was so impressed with my improvement that I studied Reiki and became a Reiki Master in 1996. I am very enthusiastic about the prospect of helping people with chronic problems that do not respond to conventional treatment.
For the past 34 years Jacques has been suffering from macular degeneration which impaired his eyesight to the point he had only very little peripheral vision left. However, the first time he played Bingo at the Memory Care House, he won all the games! Late in life he was diagnosed with Alzheimer's and his death was caused from a bump on his head from falling a week prior to his passing. He passed away at Almond Tree Senior Care’s Geddes House in Littleton, Colorado. We are very grateful for the 1.5 years of love and care he received from them in his last few days,as well as for the angels on earth from Hospice who kindly cared for all his needs in the last few days of his life.
