

Janie S. Estes, 67, of Castle Rock, Colorado, an angel on loan from heaven went to meet her savior on February 22, 2022. Janie passed at her home in Castle Rock, Colorado after a four year battle with pancreatic cancer.
Janie was born in Lubbock, Texas on May 25, 1954 to Sam and Vera Ogle. She graduated from Coronado High School in May of 1972. After a 2 year courtship she married Tom E. Estes on August 19, 1972. They were married for 49 and a half years at the time of her death.
She attended Nursing School at Texas Tech University in Lubbock from 1981 to 1983. She was on the Dean’s Honor List every semester. She attended Pima Community College in Tucson, AZ from 1983 to 1984, completing an Associate of Science in Nursing degree and obtained the Registered Nurse designation. She attended the University of Arizona in Tucson from 1984 to 1985 and obtained her Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing degree. She graduated With Honors.
Janie began her career in nursing in 1985 in the float-pool at Tucson General Hospital working med-surg, post-partum, new born nursery, substance abuse for adults and adolescents and telemetry. She subsequently transferred to ICU working full time and obtained her critical care certification. In 1987 she began working as a relief shift supervisor on weekends, evenings and nights. In August 1988, she joined University Physicians, Inc./ Kachina Pediatrics as a Clinical Nurse Supervisor where she supervised and reviewed the performance of all clinical and front desk personnel. In April of 1991, she joined Desert Cardiology of Tucson as a Clinical Nurse Manager. Following her husband’s transfer to Denver, Colorado, in March of 1993, she joined Kaiser Permanente as a staff nurse in a temporary position in the pediatric department at the East Denver Medical Center. In October of 1993, she moved to the Franklin facility in Denver where she was the assistant supervisor for cardiology and pulmonology. In 1994 she became the Nurse Manager in Cardiology. In 2001 she resigned this position and became the Nurse Manager of the eye care department at Franklin over optometry, ophthalmology and retinal surgery. In 2015, Janie was transferred to the Kaiser Lone Tree facility as the Nurse Manager over all registered nurses in the department. On November 2, 2018, Janie concluded her career in nursing at the Kaiser Lone Tree facility.
Having lived in Lubbock, Texas her whole life, she and Tom moved to Boise, Idaho in September of 1978. On January 13, 1980, Janie gave birth to her twin sons, Sam and Jason. The family moved back to Lubbock, Texas in June of 1980. In October of 1983 her husband Tom was transferred to Tucson, Arizona where the family resided until January of 1993, when Tom was transferred to Denver, Colorado. The family initially resided in Highlands, Ranch, Colorado and moved to Castle Rock in May of 2003.
Janie is survived by her husband, Tom E. Estes of Castle Rock, her son Sam E. Estes of Castle Rock, Jason R. Estes and his wife Nique N. Estes and their two sons, Aden J. Estes and Declan M. Estes, all of Castle Rock, Colorado. Janie was a lifelong Christian, placing her faith in Jesus Christ at Highlands Baptist Church in Lubbock, Texas. She remained strong in her faith throughout her life. Her faith did not waver after learning that she had pancreatic cancer. She was a very loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend to all until the day she passed. Her mantra was “God is in control.” She had a beautiful smile, a quick wit and a heart of gold. She will be greatly missed.
