

Born on November 16, 1927, Jennie was one of 13 siblings who grew up on her family’s farm in Beeler, Kansas. Her childhood was filled with hard work and strong values that would shape her life and legacy.
In 1950, Jennie moved to Denver, Colorado, where she would later meet the love of her life, Warren “Bud” Bates. They were married for 58 wonderful years before his passing in 2012. Together, they built a warm and lively home filled with love, laughter, and the joyful chaos of raising seven children: Max, Judy, Betty, Frances, William “Bill,” David, and Pam.
Jennie, a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother, poured her heart into caring for her large and ever-growing family. She had 21 grandchildren and was blessed with many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, all touched by her kindness, strength, and unconditional love.
Jennie was known for her deep love of cooking and needlework. Her home was often the gathering place for family celebrations, where her food brought people together and her handmade gifts were treasured by generations.
Jennie faced many challenges with grace, including a courageous battle with breast cancer, which she overcame with the strength and resilience that defined her life.
She will be remembered for her generous spirit, steady warmth, and unwavering devotion to those she loved. Her legacy lives on in the family she nurtured and the countless lives she touched.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, May 16th at 11:00 am Revive Church in Arvada, Colorado, followed by a luncheon.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jennie’s name to Susan G. Komen or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
