Jeremy Steven Gilbert, age 32, of Denver, Colorado passed away on Saturday, September 1, 2018. Jeremy was born February 23, 1986 in Denver, Colorado. He is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, June S. and Robert O. Rooney. Jeremy is survived by his parents, Maureen A. (Rooney) and Steven D. Gilbert; his brothers, Brandon J. Gilbert and Bradley D. (E.S.) Gilbert; sister, Renee K. (Don) Sullivan and their children, Gabriella, Natalie and Jackson Sullivan; paternal grandparents, Frances J. and Duane M. Gilbert; and other loving family and friends.
Jeremy graduated early from Heritage High School in December 2003 to join the United States Marie Corps in January 2004. He served proudly in Iraq and Southeast Asia from 2004-2008. During this time he was awarded the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal for valor. Upon his discharge, Jeremy began college classes at the University of Colorado at Denver and later transferred to the Colorado School of Mines. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Petroleum Engineering from Colorado School of Mines in 2013. He played varsity soccer for Mines and was a member of the Petroleum Engineering Honor Society. He was admitted to the University of Denver graduate program and was preparing to start the MBA program in September 2018. Jeremy will always be remembered as a loving son and grandson, a caring brother and cousin, a fun uncle, and a true friend to many.
A Visitation for Jeremy will be held Tuesday, September 11, 2018 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Olinger Chapel Hill Mortuary and Cemetery, 6601 South Colorado Blvd, Centennial, CO 80121. A second Visitation will begin at 9:30 am, Wednesday, September 12, 2018 at Olinger Chapel Hill Mortuary with the Funeral Service beginning at 10:30 am. A Celebration of Life Reception will be held in the Summit Reception Room immediately following services. A Committal Service will occur Wednesday, September 12, 2018 at 2:15 pm at Ft. Logan National Cemetery - Staging Area C, 4400 W Kenyon Ave, Denver, CO 80236.
