He was born in Ingram, Texas to George and Alma (nee Brazeil) Cantwell. After joining the United States Army Air Corps, he was stationed at Lowry Air Base and decided to make his home in Colorado following the war. He worked for the Public Service Corporation Gas Division for more than 30 years before he retired.
He is survived by his loving wife Marian, his son Jerry (Katy) Pope, his grandchildren Randal (Juliana) Pope, Stephanie (Jim) Martens, Becky Morang, 5 greatgrandchildren; Jacob and Abigail Pope, Adelaide and Macy Martens and Cora Morang, his nephews Darrell Cantwell, and Jasper Cantwell, and his nieces Lynda Heckendorn and Sheila Cantwell.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 5 at 10AM with burial following at Ft. Logan National Cemetery.
