Leila Marie Shearer

September 17,1917 to December 13, 2012

Father and Mother: Bruce and Stella (Pointer) Pyne, a farming couple near Columbus the county seat of Cherokee County, Kansas. For the most part they were grain and cattle farmers.

Siblings: She was the second of four siblings. She was preceded in death by her brother Arlie, sister Helen, and Sister Louise.

Married: Allison Dale Shearer who preceded her in death in 1995. The couple had three children, Robert, Dale, Stephen, Tim, and Phillip Craig. Stephen Tim preceded her in death in 2010. She has four grandchildren, David, Peter, Kate and Jonathan and five great grand children, Lila, Harris, Teddy, Gus, and Kiran.

Personal Life: before being a full time wife and mother, she taught school in a rural setting from 1935 until her marriage in 1937. She loved drama and school play projects writing several that were used by many peers in the area during her teaching years. She considered herself a full partner in a family carbonated beverage business in Denver from 1937 until 1961. She valued her membership in the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) for 75 years. She taught herself to play the piano and organ and she encouraged music in her children. She enjoyed china painting and craft work including knitting, crochet, cake decorating and upholstery. In her younger years she enjoyed square dancing with her husband, she in retirement years, enjoyed travel both national and international. in Later years, she enjoyed volunteer work in the comfort and care of the elderly.
