Nécrologie de Lois Elliott
On Sunday, September 11, 2022, Lois Elliott, dedicated wife, loving mother of 3 kids, and doting grandma to 10 grandkids, died peacefully at the age of 83 in her home in McKinney, TX. She died from a prolonged struggle with several serious health conditions. Lois was born on August 10, 1939 in East St. Louis, IL to Paul and Edna (Webb) Norwood. Lois graduated from East St. Louis Senior High and then earned her Bachelor’s degree in Education from Harding College in 1963. On January 31, 1964, she married Gene Arlen Elliott. They raised one son, Tim, and two daughters, Tammy and Tanya. She taught 3rd and 4th grade children for a while, then spent some years as a homemaker. Later, she worked at Safeway until she retired from there and then worked at Denver Fabrics. She loved working with fabrics–anything from quilting to rug braiding to making things like wool mittens, felted hats, scarves, and shawls. She enjoyed sharing her passion, her tips and tricks, and her fabulous finds of buttons, threads, notions and fabrics. She shared her joy of it with her sisters, Uva and Patty, and with some guilds and passed it down to her daughters. She loved her God, loved her family fiercely, taught Sunday school (cradle roll) for years, and cared for several foster kids. She was a kind and compassionate soul who intentionally poured into others. She brought a joy and an optimism to difficult situations and to those who knew her. Lois was preceded in death by her father, Paul, her mother, Edna, and four siblings, Getha McTiernan, Uva Gardner, Glen Norwood and Mike Norwood. She is survived by her husband, Gene; by her children, Tim Elliott, Tammy Gray (James) and Tanya Stasey (Jeven); and by her siblings, Patty Rinaldo (Lawrence) and Harold Norwood. She also has 10 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. There will be a visitation in Dallas and a funeral service in Denver. The visitation will be held from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm on Wednesday, September 21, 2022 at Stonebriar Funeral Home, located at 10375 Preston Rd, Frisco, TX 75033. The funeral service will take place on Tuesday, September 27, 2022 at 10:00 am at Olinger Funeral Home at Chapel Hill, located at 6601 South Colorado Blvd, Centennial, CO 80121. In lieu of flowers or in addition to flowers, you can make a donation in memory of Lois Elliott to Colorado Christian Services, the agency through which they fostered several children decades ago. Their mission is still near and dear to her heart. You can donate online at https://christianservices.org/donate/. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.stonebriarfh.com for the Elliott family.
