

Mary Louise Hotchkiss Cox, 94, passed away April 12, 2026, at Greeley Village Assisted Living in Greeley, Colorado, with family and Hospice by her side. The cause of death was complications from Vascular Dementia.
Mary was born on December 23, 1931, to Oren and Zayda Hotchkiss in Campo, Colorado.
Mary graduated from Arvada High School in 1949. She maintained many longtime friends from her time in high school.
In 1951, Mary married Charles Edwin Cox. They had two daughters, Pamela Cox Ziebarth and Patricia Cox Reiter.
Charles and Mary moved to El Paso, Texas, for 2 years while Charles was in the Army. They returned to Colorado to raise their family in Englewood where she loved her beautiful rose garden. In 1976 they moved to Idaho where they ran the Surge Dairy Supply Business and raised goats and enjoyed their farm. Mary returned to Colorado in 1988 and lived in the cities of Lakewood, Fort Collins and Johnstown and filled her days with many projects.
Mary had a full and enjoyable life where, in addition to raising her family, she worked at Mountain Bell Telephone Company as a Secretary, Denver University as a Travel Agent, Vitamin Cottage as a Sales Associate, Elder Care as a care giver and a Massage Therapist.
Mary was an accomplished seamstress and taught her daughters and others to sew. Mary was very involved in 4-H, loved to cook and bake, and square dance. She loved family get-togethers, writing poems, making family photo albums, and the creativity of other arts and crafts projects. Purple was her favorite color. She loved Angel figurines and spent hours watching Classic Movies.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband Charles, parents, Oren and Zayda and sisters, Leta Faye Kellogg and Eula Lee Ricks. Mary is survived by her daughters, Pam and Patty, Grandchildren Tad (Beth) Ziebarth and Rana (Greg) Berglund and Great Granddaughter, Raegan Ziebarth.
Mary will be interred at Chapel Hill Cemetery. Centennial, Colorado, May 8, 2026, at 1:30 pm. The family requests that any persons wishing to honor Mary’s memory consider donating to the Dementia Society of America at dementiasociety.org or Bloom Healthcare Hospice at bloomhospice.com.
