Patrick James Farley passed away at 81 years old on December 24, 2025 at 6:50 am. He died at Orchard Park Health Care Center where he was currently residing. The cause of death was Metastatic Prostate Cancer and a Pulmonary Embolism. He had been battling the cancer for many years, but after a fall in October that led to a collapsed lung, he developed a blood clot that moved into his lung. The cancer and blood clot were working against each other and there was nothing else the doctors could do to help either of the issues.
Patrick James Farley was born on December 25th, 1943. He was also born in New York City and grew up in the Bronx. He didn’t speak much about his childhood or his family, but we do know that he was born to John and Mary Farley. He got an Associates degree in Latin in college. Patrick got drafted into the Airforce and fought in the Vietnam war. Shortly before he got deployed, he met Helen.
Helen and Patrick dated on and off while he was fighting in the war. When he got out of the service, the two became official. After marrying, the two moved to Colorado. Patrick was able to get a job out here, and it seemed like the perfect idea after deciding they didn’t want to raise kids in NYC. Helen had been struggling to decide what to study. She had switched from teaching to accounting and finally settled on nursing. Patrick paid for her to attend Nursing school and she went on to graduate from Metro State University with her BSN. Patrick worked as a banker at a variety of businesses and then worked for the state, while Helen began her nursing career at Rocky Mountain Hospital, went on to help open Littleton Hospital, and spent the majority of her career in Cardiology at Kaiser Permanente.
After buying a house in Parker Colorado, Patrick and Helen gave birth to their daughter Karen. Karen grew up in Parker, but after a devastating event during her Senior year of high school, Patrick and Helen decided to move to Littleton and buy their house that they spent the rest of their lives in. In 2001, Karen gave birth to Helen and Patrick’s first grandchild Chantelle, and in 2004 she gave birth to their second grandchild Hannah. After Karen tragically passed away in 2006, Helen and Patrick took Hannah and Chantelle under their wing and helped to raise them. Eventually, the two girls moved in with Helen and Patrick full time. The last two decades of their lives revolved around their grandchildren, taking them to school, sports, hosting playdates, and everything in between. They went on to see both Hannah and Chantelle graduate high school, Chantelle graduate college, and Hannah begin college. They both lived full lives with so much love surrounding them.
Patrick was preceded in death by his father and mother, John and Mary Farley, his sister Anne Farley, and his daughter Karen Farley. He was survived by his wife, Helen Farley, and his two granddaughters, Chantelle Whittaker and Hannah McGee.
Thank you to the Orchard Park Health Care Facility and MorningStar on Jordan for taking such great care of Patrick in his end of life experience. Please reach out to his granddaughter, Chantelle Whittaker, with anything in regards to Patrick.
A committal service will be held at Fort Logan National Cemetery, located at 4400 W Kenyon Ave, Denver, CO 80236, United States. The service is scheduled for March 6, 2026, from 1:00 pm to 1:30 pm.
