Randall Van Hayhurst, age 73, passed away in Tucson, Arizona on January 22, 2024. Randall was born in Denver, Colorado on August 11,1950 and was the son of Ellene and Alfred Hayhurst. He was raised in Denver and graduated from Lincoln High School. He then served for a brief time in the Colorado National Guard.
To those who are most familiar with him, Randall lived and died as a “seeker.” Somewhat nomadic, he loved to travel, and he loved music. He once had a stint as a “roadie” for the Doobie Brothers and was always ready to tell people about it. He was a talented artist and craftsman, a draftsman, a surveyor, and he loved cooking a gourmet meal. He enjoyed Colorado and the mountains, but his dislike of the winter weather took him towards California and Arizona to the ocean and the warmth of the sun.
Per his wishes, Randall will be buried near his mother at Chapel Hill Cemetery in Centennial, Colorado. He is survived by his stepmother, Roberta Hayhurst (of Colorado), and his sisters, Marty Naatz (of Oregon) and Sandy Naatz (of Colorado).
