Rebecca Ann Lyman was born in Oconomowoc, Wisconsin on June 8, 1976 to parents Roy and Diane (Hauke) Lyman. She was preceded in death by her father, Roy. Rebecca is survived by her loving mother, Diane, her brother Jake and his wife, Sharleen. Rebecca is also survived by her niece, Katherine, numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Rebecca graduated Summa Cum Laude at University of Wisconsin-Platteville 1999 with a double major in accounting and law enforcement. She was employed as senior accountant at Foley & Lardner, Milwaukee, Wisconsin where she flew extensively throughout the US to train other accountants and develop a training manual and newsletter. Her heart was not only to function as an accountant but to also bless her fellow employees. She delighted in surprising each one with a personalized birthday celebration. Rebecca also was employed as an accountant at GMR Marketing in New Berlin, WI and Daar Engineering Inc in West Allis, WI.
Rebecca was so thankful to have had the opportunity to serve on the board of a non-profit Christian organization, Transformation Ministries located in West Allis, WI.
She attended Elmbrook Church where she had the privilege of serving as a leader of the 20-Something Group. She loved flowers, designing gardens, whitewater-rafting and even once went skydiving . Reading, theater, music, and movies were a passion. She developed a 1000 book library for her beloved niece, Katie, and often treated family and friends to live theater and movies.
In addition to the books, Rebecca loved treating Katie to extravagant Easter egg hunts, lots of Christmas presents, and amazing music mixes she spent hours putting together. Her generous spirit extended to strangers who she would anonymously pay tolls for.
In her early thirties Rebecca was diagnosed with bipolar 1, which robbed her of potential and the things she dreamed of doing. But through the suffering she rarely complained. Rebecca loved her family and her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She passed away peacefully after a multi-year battle with cancer.
Rebecca is profoundly missed by her family and friends who celebrate Becky’s life, mourn her temporary absence, and rejoice in her current reality.
To Rebecca:
We shall find you in the sunlit summer garden
Amid the rain-wet roses
Stir of wings
With day-break and the morning hills behind you
“I make all things new” - Rev 21:5
