Charles and Rita moved back to Livonia where her daughter Janet was born in 1958, son Paul in 1959, and Charles Jr. in 1963. Rita spent most of her married life as a homemaker and enjoyed raising her four children, running them around to their activities, and getting together with her family on holidays and summer day trips to Cass Lake.
In 1978, her husband Charles accepted a transfer, and they relocated to LaPlace, LA, where they lived until 1991 before retiring to Palm City, Florida. In 2019, Rita and Charles moved to Littleton, CO, to be near their daughter Janet, where they were able to enjoy the abundant wildlife that would arrive daily in their yard, including deer, raccoons, coyotes, foxes, bobcats, various bird species, and the occasional wild turkey. Later in life, Rita especially loved following the lives of her 13 grandchildren and kept in touch with them on her cherished iPad. Rita was known for keeping the cleanest house on the block and when the realtor was getting ready to list their house in Florida, it was to be titled “The home of Mr. and Mrs. Clean.” Rita always had a case of lint brushes on hand when her kids showed up with their pets. Rita also enjoyed reading, gardening, scrapbooking, keeping track of the finances on her adding machine, cutting coupons, praying the rosary, watching televised sports, and playing Words with Friends with her sister Joan and daughter Terri.
Survivors include her daughters Therese Holm (William) of Bend, Ore and Janet Peters (Michael) of Littleton, and sons, Paul (Debbie) of Houston, and Charles (Annette) of LaPlace.
