Robert E. Goetz, son of Gerald and Theresa Goetz, was born on October 8, 1969 in Harlan, Iowa. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Peter Catholic Church in Defiance, IA and a member of the Knights of Columbus 3rd degree. Robert was raised on a farm east of Irwin with nine other siblings. Robert graduated from Irwin-Kirkman high school class of 1988.
After high school, Robert followed in his father’s “footsteps” farming for four years when he decided to make a change in his life by moving to Colorado.
Robert moved to Colorado in April 1995 to join two of his brothers working with the family construction business, J&K. There Robert started as a laborer and made his way to lead backhoe operator/supervisor and trained many pipe layers, he was licensed in several local cities and counties as well as certified in OSHA training.
Over the past 23 years Robert developed many meaningful relationships with co-workers, customers, vendors, making friendships. He was known as someone well liked, dependable and trusted. Robert became a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Littleton, CO in 1999 as well as continuing his active membership with The Knights of Columbus where he was happy to volunteer.
Robert enjoyed gardening, baking, cooking, going to estate sales and spending time with family and friends.
Robert passed away on Tuesday, November 27, 2018 in Littleton, CO at the age of 49 years, 1 month and 19 days. He was preceded in death by his parents Gerald and Theresa. He is survived by his siblings Theresa Hansen (Ron) of Atlantic, IA, Thomas Goetz (Fawn) of Eatonville, WA, Diane Petersen of Manning, IA, Mary Bartelson (Bill) of Earlham, IA, Joe Goetz (Kelly) of Littleton, CO, Lisa Brown-Wilke (Mark) of Council Bluff, IA, John Goetz of Irwin, IA, Linda Sousa (Michael) of La Farge, WI, Jerry Goetz (Kristina) of Highlands Ranch, CO, and, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
