Sarah loved the outdoors and spent several years volunteering on mountain trail maintenance in the spring and summer with Volunteers for Outdoor Colorado, often on Colorado fourteeners. Sarah thrived on physical activity, on rock climbing, and sleeping under the stars. Her sense of adventure reflected an awe of the universe. She held a spiritual connection with both the ocean and the mountains, and found God in both people and nature.
While working at The Place assisting young people in crisis, Sarah started a shared garden to feed youth in need. She was a volunteer in every facet of her life.
Sarah’s passion for helping people continued at Vitalant where she coordinated many blood donor drives. This job gave her a special purpose, and her enthusiasm was evident in her on-air blood drives. She loved her clients and she loved her coworkers. She personally donated more than a gallon of blood during her lifetime.
You can’t describe Sarah without sharing her love of reading and the violin.
Musical, artistic, and extraordinarily articulate, the sound of her voice excited people. She was the bright light in the morning who lifted everyone’s spirits. Her sense of humor was both sharp and impish. She was your biggest fan and relished in your success. She was a born cheerleader.
Her deepest love was reserved for her brother, Dan, her sister, Katie, and her parents, who admired how she turned personal tragedy into helping others, and never stopped finding deeper ways of connecting with life and people.
