Shelda Hardin Murphree was born the 1st child of 9 to Johnie and Olene Hardin in the family home in Slate Springs, MS on August 3,1936. Shelda peacefully joined our Creator on April 29, 2024, at the age of 87.
Shelda is survived by her 3 children, 6 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and 6 siblings.
Children: Dennis Murphree (Sara) Centennial, John Murphree (Lisa), Castle Pines, Jennifer Murphree Geraghty (Steve), Centennial.
Grandchildren: J.D. Murphree (Ashlene), Jeremy Murphree (Alicia), Matt Murphree (Rachel), Brian Murphree, Mick Geraghty, Libby Geraghty.
Great Grandchildren: James Murphree IV, Ryder Murphree, Levi Murphree, Fiona Rehn, Elliana Murphree
Siblings: Nita West, Helon Gragg, Melba Ramage (Everette), Marjorie Knight, Becky Atkinson (Bob), Derry Hardin
She is preceded in death by her husband Jim of 60 Years, two brothers Burl & Jack, daughter-in-law Chris Pozar Murphree.
Growing up in rural Mississippi she helped raise all her younger siblings until she went off to college to study Library Science. She married the love of her life, Jim Murphree, November 28, 1957. She was a homemaker and Mom for most of her adult life, she enjoyed her part-time job at a local library and the high school library. Her retirement life included being with her husband, grandchildren, great grandchildren, traveling and helping with anything that needed to be done at Englewood United Methodist Church.
Well known and loved by all for her kindness and friendliness to everyone she met, she will be greatly missed and loved always.
