Our precious Shirley was born on July 21, 1925, spent the majority of her young life in Springville, Utah and married Sterling after 11 dates following World War II. She is survived by her brother, Darrell who resides in Provo, Utah, and her three children Jan Peterson, Aurora, Colorado, Sharon Allen, Missouri City, Texas, Craig Peterson, Boise, Idaho and Randy Peterson (deceased) along with 7 grandchildren, 15 Great Grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was very proud of her family and they were the most important part of her life.
Shirley had an amazing ability to light up the room and was a friend to everyone. She supported Sterling in his nationwide relocations and travel as he promoted through the Social Security Administration, and she was a dedicated mother and homemaker. As you all experienced, she truly viewed life as a fabulous journey of laughter, love, family, friends and nature. She was very involved with her neighbors and considered herself the hostess and "glue" to nurture and maintain those friendships which ultimately lasted over 50 years.
Incredibly, for 85 years she enjoyed almost perfect health and was actively involved in Silver Sneakers senior fitness which became a highlight of her weekly activities. Her family, friends and anyone whose life she touched were in awe of her determination to view life as a "full glass." In her daily affirmation, "no two days are alike, tomorrow is another day and this too shall pass." In lieu of flowers, donations may be made by check to: The Denver Hospice, 501 S. Cherry Street, Suite #700, Denver, CO 80246 or you may donate on their website at www.thedenverhospice.org under the "donations" tab.
