Sia Rahbar, 77, was born on October 22, 1947, in Tehran, Iran and passed away in Littleton, CO, on November 25, 2024. He was an amazing husband, a loving and devoted father, an over-the-top grandfather, and a wonderful son, brother, uncle, cousin and friend. He was so proud of Kristen and Jeff and never missed a choir concert, game, dance recital, rock concert or any event involving them. Their love and support over the last year meant so much to him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jafar and Forough, and his sister Nasrin. He is survived by his loving wife, Holly, and his siblings, Nooshin, Darius, Simin, and Yasi. In addition to his children and their significant others, Andrew and Sarah, he also has numerous nieces and nephews that he absolutely adored. He also derived immeasurable joy from his two grandsons, Tyler and Eric.
Sia immigrated to the US, (Chicago), at the age of 22. He spoke limited English when he arrived and in addition to English classes, he learned by watching old movies while spending a summer painting apartments. He went on to earn a business degree from the University of Illinois. He typically worked two jobs while going to school full time, and his jobs included driving city buses, taxis and being a waiter in an upscale restaurant. It was during this time that he and Holly met, and they recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.
His career included banking, human resources, fleet management, and a "retirement job" as a carpenter. He was offered several promotions that he declined as he always put the needs of his family first and didn't want to uproot his family from life in Colorado.
But his most cherished and important job was as a caregiver for his family. He was happiest when he was being productive and taking care of those he loved. He was good at nearly everything...he had exceptional cooking skills, but he was also amazing at carpentry and could build or fix almost anything! He was also talented at decorating, remodeling, and could sew and iron. And he was great with babies and children of all ages. He was one of a kind!
His interests included spending as much time as possible with his family, cheering for the Broncos, Bears, and CU Buffs along with the Nuggets, and all things soccer. He also enjoyed being in the yard gardening, mowing, and raking and had an award-winning lawn. He loved classical music and attending the symphony. He also enjoyed traveling, and Maui was always high on his list.
Sia was so devastated to leave us and is definitely gone too soon. To know him was to bask in the glow of his kindness, generosity and playfulness. So many people have shared that encounters with him were memorable, and that he made them feel special. To end with a quote from his last brief family speech, "I'm going to say see you later, not goodbye."
