It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Stuart Lovelace, who departed this life on November 28, 2025, at the age of 96. Stu was a cherished family member, friend, and neighbor, whose warmth and kindness touched the lives of all who knew him.
Early Life and Family
Stu was born on June 29, 1929, in Englewood, Colorado. After graduating from Englewood High School in 1947, he attended the University of Colorado (now known as University of Colorado Boulder, CU Boulder) for one year, then transferred to Colorado A&M (now known as Colorado State University, CSU) in Fort Collins, Colorado. There he earned his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree.
Stu married his high school sweetheart, Bobbie Carter, on June 8, 1951. They lived in Fort Collins until moving to Bozeman, Montana. There he began his career conducting veterinary research. In 1960, they returned to Colorado with their three children, John, Jean, and Glen. Bobbie passed away in 1960 in a tragic motor vehicle accident. The family moved to Wheat Ridge, Colorado where Stu joined Paramount Heights Veterinary Hospital. Stu’s parents, Eva and Stuart Lovelace Sr., graciously moved in with the family for 5 years taking care of the children and running the household.
After some time, Stu met Dorothy Wells Tarr at Englewood Methodist Church. They were married on July 17, 1965. With the marriage, the family grew to include Dorothy’s daughters, Linda, and Becky.
A Life of Dedication
Stu was devoted to his family, and to the animals and clients he served through his over 40 years of veterinary practice. He was actively involved with the Wheat Ridge United Methodist Church, the Wheat Ridge Optimist Club, and the Colorado Veterinary Medical Association. He inspired those around him with his integrity, sense of humor, and unfailing kindness.
Fond Memories
Stu loved the outdoors and embraced adventures throughout his life. He enjoyed downhill and cross-country skiing, hiking, backpacking, hunting, and biking. He also appreciated concerts, museums, art, and dining out. He will be remembered for his sincerity, his genuine interest in people, and for being a steady presence in the lives of those he loved.
