Suzanne Mary Louise (Mascott) Berry was called home to her Heavenly Father on Thursday, August 4th 2016, in Downey, California.
Suzanne was born in Colorado Springs, Colorado on May 22, 1921 to Jose and Laura Mascott. She married in 1939 and was the proud mother of two children Marilyn Odessa Williams and Choanie Berry.
Suzanne was a homemaker for many years. Her greatest joys came from being a devoted and loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Suzanne had a very strong belief and faith in God. She looked to him daily for strength and wisdom. Her favorite scripture from the bible was Psalms 23:1, “The Lord is my Shepherd; I shall not want.” She would often tell her children and grandchildren that she was here by the grace of God and that led her to say kind words and do good deeds daily. Suzanne was prayerful, charismatic, patient, loving, unselfish and humble; family oriented and always had a smile and something pleasant and encouraging to share with everyone she encountered. She was instantly admired by many for her sweet and gentle spirit. It was apparent that her destiny and purpose on earth was to deliver happiness and love to her family and friends.
Suzanne was affectionately known to her family as “Mama”, “Grams”, “Gi-Gi”, “Suzanne # 1” and “Aunt Sue”. When she lived in Montbello she was known as the “Neighborhood Grams”. She did things for everybody that a Grams should do, give UNCONDITIONAL love and support, share kind words and uplifting thoughts, feed you, and even give you some stern words if necessary (always followed by a hug). Because of her kindness and her vigilance many kids in our neighborhood are safe, happy and healthy today.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, John and Joseph Mascott; two sisters, Dorothy McDonald and Roberta Richardson.
She leaves a multitude of memories for her family to cherish. Treasuring their times with her are: her son, Choanie and his husband, James, who spent the last 14 years caring for her; her daughter Marilyn (Deti) that always kept a place for her (called Grams room); four grandchildren that believed she hung the moon - Suzanne #2 (Charles,III), Stephanie (Rombulus), Stephen, and Marlena. She also had 4 great-grandchildren that believed she hung the moon; Dyonasis, Charles,IV (Angel Boy), Stacy (Pumpkin Boy) and Isaiah (Precious Boy). She is also remembered by her longtime childhood friend and neighbor Grace Garrett and a host of relatives and friends.
A Celebration of Suzanne's Life will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, August 20, 2016 at Olinger Chapel Hill Mortuary, 6601 S Colorado Blvd, Centennial, CO, 80121. Entombment will be held in Olinger Chapel Hill Cemetery.
