

Yayoi Romberger, age 89, passed away at her home in Aurora, Colorado surrounded by her family on Sunday, January 13th, 2019. She was born on March 22nd, 1929 in South Manchuria to Genichi and Misayo Tanaka. Yayoi’s later migrated to Japan with her 5 siblings where she met her husband Raymond Romberger. On December 18, 1953 they were married in Tokyo and then moved together to the United States in 1955. Raymond and Yayoi had 3 children.
Yayoi retired from Denver Public Schools as a Cafeteria Manager and was also a faithful follower of Christ. She played the piano, participated in the church choir, was a professional seamstress, avid gardener, and a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.
She is survived by her 3 children, Perry (Kimberly) Romberger, Susan Hansen, Jennie (Gerald Mogor) Bonner; 2 grandchildren, Maranda (Kris) Randall and Tasha (Zacchaeus) Boss; 3 great grandchildren; and her 3 siblings, Kimiko Wong, Takeshi Tanaka, and Ryouko Matsumoto.
Yayoi is preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Raymond Romberger; and 2 siblings, Isao and Yutaka Tanaka.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 21, 2019 at 10:00 AM at Olinger Chapel Hill Mortuary, 6601 S Colorado Blvd, Centennial, CO 80121.
The committal service will follow on Tuesday January 22nd, 2019 at 9:00 AM at Fort Logan National Cemetery, 4400 W Kenyon Ave, Denver, CO 80236.
The family will greet friends at the Chapel on Monday from 9:00 AM until the time of service.
