Born and raised in Chester, CT to the late Daniel J. and Elizabeth (Stalsburg) Zanardi, Dean attended Valley Regional HS where he graduated in 1965; attended Lesley College; and then proudly served a tenure in the Army Reserves before working for and eventually taking over the family construction business as President and Co-Owner until his retirement in 2012.
Dean, or “Deano” as he was affectionately called by all who knew him, will be remembered by his family and friends for his kind and generous nature and fantastic sense of humor. He was proud of his business success; his love for the Boston Celtics and SF Giants; and most importantly, his profound and everlasting love for his wife, sons, brothers and brothers-in-law.
Dean is survived by his wife Denise of Killingworth, with whom he shared 39 years of marriage and where they raised their two sons; Brett and his fiancé, Veronica of Madison; and Paul, his wife Melissa and grandson Jamie of Fairfield.
Dean also leaves behind his younger brother Daniel Zanardi of Old Saybrook; his nieces Alexandra Zanardi and Chloe Neal; and Dawn Clark and Kristen Bouchard. In addition to his parents, Dean was predeceased by his middle brother David Zanardi of Chester in 2018.
