Robert Thomas Riley, age 94 of Old Saybrook passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 23, 2025. He was the beloved husband of Murielle McGee Riley. Bob was born in Moodus on September 20, 1931, the son of Edward and Edna (Smith) Riley. Bob and Murielle were married for 36 years. Bob proudly served his country in the United States Army as a Medic during the Korean War from 1951-1954.
He had a long career as a car salesman at the both the former Charlie Risko Chrysler, Plymouth, Dodge and Stanley Motors dealerships, as well as the current Grossman Chevrolet all located in Old Saybrook. Bob retired in 1993. Following his career in the automobile industry he operated his own chauffeur business until 2021.
Besides his wife Murielle he leaves his son, Michael Riley of Chester, his daughter, Patricia Riley of Old Saybrook, his granddaughter, Ashley Riley of Cromwell, his grandson, Trevor Lytle of Foster, Rhode Island, and his sister, Leight Riley of Westbrook. He was predeceased by his stepdaughter, Kimberly McGee.
Visitation will be held at the Robinson, Wright & Weymer Funeral Home, 34 Main Street in Centerbrook on Friday, December 12, 2025 from 2:00PM- 4:00PM. The rendering of Military Honors will take place on the grounds of the funeral home at 3:00PM. Inurnment will be privately held by the family in the Riverside Cemetery in Old Saybrook. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Bob’s name to the Old Saybrook Ambulance Association, 316 Main Street, Old Saybrook, CT 06475.
