You Are Missed Steve You Were Like A Big Brother To So Many People.  We Will All Be Together Again Some Day

I will always remember Steve for his gentle spirit.  He was a big guy, 200 plus pounds, but he was as gentle and kind as a teddy bear !
Paul and I were so fortunate to have traveled to Ireland, Aruba. Maine, Lake George, Bethany Beach, Montauk, and many other adventures with Janet and Steve.  The memories and the laughs we shared are priceless.  The four of us often had dinner together.  Those times to sit, relax and catch up on each other lives,  brought us closer together over the years.
Steve loved well.  He loved everyone and everyone loved him.  His life is a true testimony of loving God, loving people.  I know that when Steve saw Jesus, the words,  "Well done my good and faithful servant",  were spoken over him.  Heaven is rejoicing over his homecoming.
2 Timothy 4: 7-8     I have fought the good fight,  I have finished the course,  I have kept the faith;  in the future there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will award to me on that day; and not only to me, but also to all who have 
loved His appearing.
We will miss you Steve.  What a blessing and an honor to call you our Brother !

Steve Grantners' passing was a sad and heartbreaking loss for many. His unwavering faith in Jesus and his love for God were his passions from early in his life .He was a like a modern day Apostle ~sharing the Word and living it. This was the same energy by which he loved his  wife, their children & grandchildren ~and all his extended family members and friends.  We were all blessed to have known him and his absence will be felt by us all.

Steve  helped me in a time of turmoil and unhappiness in my life. His kindness and love for my wife and I was a great blessing. This is why so so many people loved him, He was a man of God and helped me more than I can say.

Steve was an incredible friend and faithful servant to so many ministries at SGT. This picture is from May on his last fishing trip with Joe. We will miss Steve so much and rejoice that we will see him in eternity. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you. 

One of the best men I have ever known, Steve was the Gospel in action. While others spoke the Word into my life, Steve exemplified it. Back in the late 70s when my parents were unwilling or unable to get me to youth group, Steve would make the drive in his old, smelly, wonderful white truck to pick me up in Ronkonkoma, drive me past his home in Oakdale out to Sayville and reverse the process afterward. No questions asked, no compensation required. Always a perfect gentleman with me and other clueless teens. Steve watched out for a bunch of us when the church excluded students whose parents didn't attend the church from the youth group and seamlessly integrated us into LI YFC where I met my future husband. So glad I was able to connect with him by phone from Chicago in the early 90s when I became a parent. I was able to tell him how he influenced, shepherded, and encouraged me and how much in hindsight I appreciated his quiet, humble servanthood.

Steve prayed for me while I was going through great turmoil and personal problems.  He always smiled and gave me a hug when I would see him at the SGT Men's night.  I recently saw him in church, and while he was fighting this horrible disease, he said he was praying for me. He will be greatly missed, but I will continue to pray for him and his family as I continue my spiritual journey with the Lord. I love you, Stephen.

       Steve is a great man of God, evident from his love for  his family and his community. He supported his church in missions primarily and was a trusted Deacon. His presence brought a huge smile to our countenances , although his stately physique and handlebar stache  was a little daunting . His gentle voice encouraged us and also his grandchildren and his love for fishing and outdoor activities is commendable. Whenever circumstances allowed, he would pack up and go to Thailand to be with his missionary children and his beloved grandchildren. 
        Our heartfelt condolences to Janet , children, grandchildren and immediate families. May our Lord grant His love, grace and peace.

Knew Steve my whole life and treated me as a brother.  He did a lot to help the youth in our area and in Church.  He was a very good clammer and I was on his boat when he had his largest amount in one haul?  125- 130 clams never saw anything like it.  Also went scalloping with him once and it was a great opportunity.  He was always a very generous person and treated others very nice.  Steve we all miss you, but I know we will all be together someday.  God is real and this will happen.  Your friend always Paul Laufer
