John Herbert Stanford Jr.

John Herbert Stanford, Jr. of Baton Rouge, LA made his 86th birthday Sept. 4th before going to see his Lord & Savior, Jesus Christ, on 9/12/22. Mr. John was a talented and honest mechanic who treated everyone fairly. He took pride in his work and was dedicated to serving people through it. He never met a stranger and enjoyed telling unbelievable (but true) stories of his life. He even tried to teach everyone he encountered a little Cajun French! He was born in Sunset, LA and raised in Church Point, LA. He was married to his young bride, Melba Ann Alford Stanford for 58 years before she went to be with Jesus. He was also preceded in death by his parents Herbert Houston & Olivia Marie (Stelly), his infant son, David, and his daughter-in-law Rhonda Morgan Stanford. He leaves behind to cherish his memory: son, James Stanford; son, Thomas Stanford & wife, Jenny; daughter, Tina Stanford Covington and husband Rhett; five grandchildren, Jamie Stanford Marino, James Stanford, Jr. & wife, Kim, Amy Stanford, Caleb Covington, and Christa Covington; Two great grandchildren, Breanna and Sophia Stanford; sister, Robbie Jennings; nephews, John Dees (Donna) & Stephen Swain; and nieces, Denise Perales (John), Charlotte Rodgers (Tim), and Lynn Prieboy.

Friends and family are invited to celebrate his life on Saturday September 17th at Central Funeral Home located at 9995 Hooper Road. Visitation will be from 9am-11am with funeral service to follow.
