With heavy hearts and deep gratitude for a life well lived, we announce the passing of Lee Michael Faucette, Jr., April 4, 2026, at the age of 90. Always quick with a smile and a wave, Lee moved through life with a warmth and spirit that stayed with him until his final moments.
Lee lived a life marked by extraordinary strength, resilience, and a sweet, enduring sense of humor. He was born September 30, 1935, to Lee Michael Faucette, Sr., and Louise Badger Faucette, in New Orleans, Louisiana. A true New Orleanian through and through, Lee followed the footsteps of his older sister, Gloria, whom he called his “devoted protector.” He attended St. Dominic’s Elementary School and Warren Easton High School before entering the United States Army.
Lee served his country for three years and cherished his time in Ethiopia where he formed lifelong friendships. He continued his commitment to fellow veterans as Commander of the American Legion Boyd-Ewing Post 58. His love of literature and history, along with the blessing of the G.I. Bill, carried him forward to Louisiana State University. Lee graduated with honors and went on to earn his master’s degree in education.
Lee began his career as a teacher at Baker Junior High School and went on to serve as an assistant principal and principal within East Baton Rouge Public Schools. As principal, he played a key role in transforming Baton Rouge High into Baton Rouge Magnet High School and was especially proud of establishing the WBRH radio station, whose continued success remains a meaningful part of his legacy. He later served as a director and as an assistant to the superintendent for the district. Even in retirement, he served as a student teacher supervisor at both Louisiana State University and Southeastern Louisiana University. He was also inducted into the Halls of Fame at both Warren Easton High School and Baton Rouge Magnet High School.
Lee’s love of learning lives on in his four daughters, all of whom pursued careers in education and public service. A dedicated “girl dad,” he delighted in fatherhood. Above all, he took great pride in encouraging his daughters to pursue college degrees of their own. In return, his daughters will always treasure his gentle, steady devotion to their happiness.
But perhaps the greatest joy of Lee’s life was his beloved wife, Debi, who survives him. They shared nearly forty-four years of love and companionship. Lee adored their annual retreats to Pensacola Beach, their “happy place,” and when Lee looked at Debi, his bright blue eyes sparkled.
Lee leaves behind a family who will carry on his joyful legacy. He is survived by his wife, Deborah Keebler Faucette; his four daughters: Elizabeth (Jonathan), Mary Bounds (Michael), Natalie Faucette, and Stephanie Faucette (Ryan Stoa); sister-in-law, Susan Keebler; mother-in-law, Jimmie Lea Keebler; and two nephews, Rene Gaudet (Barbara) and Steven Gaudet.
He leaves behind three grandsons: Kyle (Joanna), Jack, and Wes. Lee’s love for his grandsons was incomparable. He took immense pride in “his boys” and in the joy they brought to his daughters’ lives.
Lee was preceded in death by his parents; sister Gloria Gaudet (Rene); and father-in-law, Robert F. Keebler.
The family would like to thank the care team at the Claiborne at Shoe Creek for their care and compassion.
A visitation will be held Friday, April 10, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at St. Alphonsus Liguori Catholic Church (14040 Greenwell Springs Rd, Greenwell Springs, LA 70739). A funeral Mass will follow at noon.
Pallbearers will be Michael Bounds, Rene Gaudet, Jonathan Huggins, Kyle Huggins, John Mitchell, and Ryan Stoa.
