

Dr. Marion J. Trahan, 85, gained his heavenly wings peacefully on Friday, August 26, 2022 surrounded by his family at his home. Dr. T had a true servant’s heart and loved all people. He was devoted to his faith, family, and the practice of medicine. He was self-made and never forgot his humble roots. He loved to tell stories of his childhood and Cajun upbringing. He graduated from LSU Medical School and practiced medicine for 58 years. He retired in 2020 from the State of Louisiana.
He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Sheila Ford Trahan; daughters, Lisa Suire (Riis), Bronwyn Blair, Baylie Brooke Trahan; son, Adam Barner and their significant others; grandchildren, Richard, Kerry, Sara, Abram, LaKota, Meryn Sage, Korbin; brother, Perlis Trahan (Myrtis); sister, Della Schexnyder (C.J.); son in law, Freddie Navailhon, and sister in law, Karen Trahan.
He is preceded in death by his parents Opha and Lula Trahan; daughter, Laurel Navailhon; brothers, Ritter, Leo, and Lyman Trahan.
Family and friends are invited to attend the visitation on Wednesday, August 31, 2022 at Central Funeral Home from 5:00 – 8:00 PM. The visitation will resume on Thursday, September 1, 2022 at Zoar Baptist Church from 9:00 – 11:00 AM with the service beginning at 11:00 AM. The burial will immediately follow in Zoar Baptist Church Cemetery.
Honorary pallbearers will include Mike Howell’s Sunday school class.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to American Brain Tumor Association, Louisiana Mental Health Association, and Zoar Baptist Cemetery Fund.
