Norris Anthony Marchand, Sr, owner of Marchand Machinery Maintenance for over 40 years, died Monday, October 9, 2023, at the Butterfly Unit Baton Rouge General Mid City at 6:50 pm. He was 89, a resident of Greenwell Springs and native of Baton Rouge. Visiting at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church (14040 Greenwell Springs Rd) on Tuesday, October 17, at 10 am until religious service at noon, conducted by Rev. Mike Mahoney. Rosary service at 9:30 am. Interment will follow in Roselawn Memorial Park.
Norris is survived by his wife, Emma Hanegan Gajan Marchand; four daughters and sons-in-law, Nancy Jo Keedy of Iowa, Charie and Gerald Barber of St. Francisville, Susan and Thomas Graham of Highland Village, TX, and Karen Garner of Baton Rouge; son and daughter-in-law, Norris Jr. and Emily Marchand of Springfield, LA; daughter-in-law, Kristy Marchand of Central; 19 grandchildren, Morgan, Sarah Kehoe, Ashley and Carlton Keedy, Jude and Chad Barber, Mary Barber McGregor and Lilly Barber Frank, Matthew Graham; Rebekah Graham Douglas, and John Samuel Graham, Anthony, Joseph, and Teddy Marchand, Anastasia Garner Daigle, Charles Norris Garner, Elizabeth Garner, Michael Ann Marchand LaMotte and Ali Marchand Leithman; 20 great grandchildren; 4 stepdaughters, Patti Anderson of St. Francisville, Wendy Bradley of Hendersonville, NC, Elaine McManus and Dawn Gajan, both of Baton Rouge; five stepsons, Chipper Gajan of Plaquemine, Hokie Gajan (deceased) of Mandeville, Andy Gajan of Rosedale, Robert Gajan of Baywood, and Alton Gajan of Jena; and numerous step-grandchildren and great step-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his late wife of 51 years, Mary Theresa Morgan Marchand; son, Allen Keith Marchand; parents, Pearl Haase and Allen Louis Marchand, Sr.; brother, Allen Louis Marchand, Jr; and step grandson, Daniel Bradley.
Norris is a 1952 graduate of Catholic High School, member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, Bereavement committee at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, Catholic High Men's Club and an avid duck hunter.
