James E Epperson

James Edward Epperson, a beloved resident of Duncanville, Alabama, passed away on December 25, 2025, at the age of 79. Born on February 23, 1946, James was known for his hard-working, compassionate, and faithful nature. He was a devoted and selfless individual, beloved by all who knew him.

James dedicated 26 years of his career to Hanna Steel, where he worked in maintenance. His commitment to serving others extended beyond his professional life, as he volunteered as a firefighter for over 50 years. Additionally, he spent 20 years working at The Toy Plant in Brent, showcasing his thoughtful and dedicated character.

James and Frances shared a loving marriage of 60 years, a testament to their deep bond and devotion. Together, they raised one son, who was the pride and joy of their lives.

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the Hagler Fire Department, Liberty Baptist Church, Pondville Baptist Church, Amedisys Home Health of Brent, Alabama, Dr. Ross Vaughn and his nurse of Tuscaloosa Internal. A special thanks is extended to Kellye Jackson for all the love and care shown to James, and a loving thank you to Evelyn Bradey and Mildred Holmes for all the compassionate care and love.

James will be remembered for his selfless spirit and the positive impact he had on those around him. His legacy of devotion and compassion will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing him.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Mary Frances Epperson; parents, Calvin and Suddy Epperson; sisters, Mary Jane Witcher, Mary Elizabeth "Libby" Scott, and Gracie Davis.

James is survived by his son, Greg Epperson (Kim); grand-children, Hallie Epperson, Ellison Epperson, and his "Little Loves".

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 30, 2025 at Rockco Funeral Home from 6pm - 8pm. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, December 31, 2025 at 12:00pm at Rockco Funeral Home with burial to follow at Little Hope Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. Pastors David and Sandra Grissom officiating.

Pallbearers are Larry Joe Witcher, Brian Scott, Darren Howton, Tim Porter, Bryant Holmes, Shawne Porter, William Epperson, and Thomass Caddis.

Honorary pallbearers are as follows: Hub Epperson, Darryl Epperson, The Hagler Community, Amedisys of Brent, Neal and Tracy Parker, and James and Nora Windle.
