

Jimmie Morse, born August 6, 1937 in rural Bibb County, Alabama was called home by his Lord Jesus on August 22, 2024 at his home in West Blocton, Alabama. Attended Johntown Elementary a one room schoolhouse, and graduated West Blocton High School, West Blocton, Alabama in 1955. He married Joyce Holland on September 16, 1958.
He is preceded in death by his parents John and Emma Jane Morse and 9 siblings.
He is survived by his wife Joyce Holland Morse of the home, and his sons Billy and wife Julia Morse of Devine, Texas, Alvin Morse of the home in Bibb County, Alabama, and Timothy Morse of Miami, Texas. His grandchildren Catherine and husband Kevin Hopson of Pampa, Texas, Carolyn and husband Logan Watson of Oak Point, Texas and Kade Morse of Stratford, Texas. His great-grandchildren are Lauryn, Payton, and Kyler Hopson of Pampa, and Morgan Watson of Oak Point, Texas. He is also survived by his sister Rachel and husband Ray Jones and Peggy Cook, both of Bibb County, Alabama.
Jimmie served with the Alabama National Guard, worked at a hardware store, and in 1959 moved to Texas for work in the oil fields, he soon began driving semi-trucks for oil field heavy hauling for EM Keller, Inc. He retired from trucking after over 50 years of driving.
Jimmie was most happy when he was with family! He loved his nieces and nephews and all of his grandchildren were the gleam in his eye. He even got to name his first granddaughter. He spent 65 years with the love of his life Joyce Holland Morse. He loved gospel music. He also spent time on the sound committees of his churches running sound. His last sound and grounds committee work done with Johntown Baptist Church, his home church since 1997. He loved the woods where he lived and loved His Savior Jesus Christ!
A visitation for Jimmie will be held Saturday, August 31, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Johntown Baptist Church, 5024 Vance Rd, West Blocton, AL 35184. A funeral service will occur Saturday, August 31, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, at Johntown Baptist Church. A graveside service will occur Saturday, August 31, 2024 from 12:00 PM to 12:30 PM, at Johntown Cemetery.
