Jason was born in Houston, Texas on December 21, 1973 but soon
moved to Alabama where he remained. While in school, Jason was very active in Special Olympics where he excelled with awards and medals in swimming, which he loved. In the middle to late 80’s he moved to Brent and lived with his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Burt, also lovingly known as Nanny and PawPaw. He entered Bibb County High School into Special Education under the leadership of Vickie Brown and her wonderful staff where he learned basic math and reading skills that helped him lead a productive life. He graduated in May, 1995.
Jason was a faithful member of Brent Baptist Church where he made his profession of faith in Jesus and was baptized on March 3, 1991. He was active in Sunday School and took pride serving his Lord whether it was welcoming the congregation or handing out bulletins. He enjoyed his Sunday School class and his teacher, Wayne Rinehart, who would check on Jason if absent, bring him study books and always celebrate birthdays.
Mr. Ed Lightsey was also a special friend to Jason. He would bring him a church bulletin and a “treat” on Saturdays when times were difficult for Jason to attend church.
Jason enjoyed family get togethers or family reunions. He loved
seeing family, including all his cousins. He liked playing video games and watching movies and had an extremely large collection of both. Jason would gladly share with his cousins but his return policy was strict. He was an Alabama Crimson Tide fan too. He had memorabilia from Gene Stallings photos to The Crimsonette Calendars.
He was very loved. Jason’s loving and sweet spirit will be missed by many because he never met a stranger. When he met you, you were remembered forever and a friend for life. A graveside service will be held Friday, March 13, 2026 at 11 a.m. at Pineland Memorial Park in Centreville, AL. Pallbearers will be Joseph Ealum, Dawson Harrison, Jamie McKinnon, Blake Sanderson, Tyler
Shirley, and John Simmons.
