Ruth Carroll

A celebration of her life will be held on Tuesday February 4, 2025 at 2:00 PM at West Blocton First Baptist Church, where the Reverend Ken Blake will officiate. The family will welcome friends and loved ones for visitation one hour prior to the service. Afterward, Ruth will be laid to rest at Mt. Carmel Cemetery. Rockco Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.

Ruth leaves behind a legacy of love, service, and kindness. Known for her warm hospitality, she found joy in opening her heart and home to others. Whether it was caring for children, hosting a shower or tea for a friend, or volunteering in her community, Ruth always made others feel welcome and loved. She devoted much of her time to serving the West Blocton community, and the Bibb County Nursing Home, where she was affectionately known as a ‘pink lady.’ Ruth’s spirit of service extended to her involvement on the hospital board and her many hours of volunteer work. Her servant’s heart and unwavering kindness were gifts from God she shared with all.

Above all, Ruth cherished her family. As a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Ruth, fondly known as "Nanny," made each of her loved ones feel uniquely special. Her deep love for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren was immeasurable. Ruth would go to any length to ensure her family felt safe, cared for, and loved. Her presence in their lives will be deeply missed, and her memory will remain a precious part of their hearts forever.

Ruth was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James Ray Carroll; her sisters, Sarah Dell Glidewell and Joan Boyd Jackson; and her son-in-law, Ronnie Blake. She is survived by her daughters, Vickie Blake and Renee Broadhead (Stanley); her son, Ernest Carroll (Ginger); grandchildren Chance Blake, Courtney Acker (Jake), Jordan Carroll (Taylor), and Jonah Carroll; great-grandchildren Hadley Acker, John Luke Acker, Madden Carroll, and Noah Carroll; and her brother, Jack Boone.

The family would like to thank our honorary pallbearers Billy, Rena, Anne and Cindy that were so helpful in this critical time of her life. Each one was so special to her.

Pallbearers will be Jeff Bush, Terry Deerman, Len Price, Jordan Carroll, Jonah Carroll, and Brent White.

Ruth will be deeply missed, but her love and legacy will continue to live on in all who were blessed to know her.
