

Alma Mercedes Landry St. Amant passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by her family and loved ones on Friday, February 7, 2025 at the age of 83. She was the cherished wife of the late William P. St. Amant. Daughter of the late Emma Borja Erato and James J. Landry Jr. Sister of the late James J. Landry III. Beloved mother of Pamela Lapara (Philip), Jean-Paul St. Amant and William P. St. Amant III. Proud grandmother of Emily Lapara (Chris), Alex Lapara (Kayla), Alyssa St. Amant (Avery) and Leah St. Amant. Devoted great grandmother of Ava Grace, Kali Rae and Navy Layne. She is also survived and fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
Alma was born in New Orleans, LA and was a longtime resident of St. Bernard Parish. Her life was marked by a love for her faith and her family. She had a personal relationship with God and cherished her connection with Jesus, finding constant inspiration in reading her Bible. Alma was known for her generous spirit, always knowing just what to say to brighten the day of those around her. She was the heart of her family, devotedly spoiling her grandchildren and great-grandchildren with love, laughter and affection.
Alma had many interests that brought joy to her life. She found comfort in her crossword puzzles and enjoyed spending time with her "dialysis friends." She cherished outings with her family, especially sharing meals, telling stories and making memories. A fan of Hallmark movies, Alma also enjoyed the camaraderie of her quilting club. Her love for music, especially the tunes of Alan Jackson, was something that brought her joy and peace.
Alma's kindness, generous heart, and good nature made her a beloved figure to all who knew her. She had a wonderful ability to find beauty in the small moments of life, always putting others first. Alma will be forever remembered as a loving and loyal wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister, who loved her friends and treasured her family.
Rest in peace, dear Alma. The love, kindness, faith and caring presence that you shared with us throughout your life will continue to inspire and guide us until we meet again.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation to be held at ST. BERNARD MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette, LA on Monday, February 17th from 11:00AM – 1:00PM, followed by a service in Alma’s memory beginning at 1:00PM. She will be laid to eternal rest in St. Bernard Memorial Gardens.
