Alvin Jones

Alvin Jones, a devoted husband, loving father, cherished grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully at the age of 80 on August 22, 2024. He touched the lives of many through his unwavering love and dedication to his family. Alvin was the loving husband of Adriann Boylan Jones for 61 years. Proud father of Alvin A. Jones (Kim) and Alan M. Jones (Sheri). Loving grandfather of Ryan Jones, Allyson Velasquez (Francisco), Emily Jones (Dylan) and Adam Jones; great-grandfather of Marco Velasquez; brother of Glenda Necaise, Doyle Jones, and Sheila Wells. He is preceded in death by his parents, Malvin & Eva Mae Jones; his siblings, Ruby Broadhead, Larry Jones and Michael Jones.

A proud graduate of Nicholls High School, Alvin worked as a maintenance supervisor at Tenneco Refinery and Exxon/Mobil, which later became Chalmette Re-fining, L.L.C., where he dedicated his career until his retirement in 2004. Alvin's contributions to the refinery were marked by his diligence, dedication and commitment to his work. Beyond his professional achievements, Alvin was an avid sports enthusiast. He enjoyed golfing and was actively involved in playing men's league baseball (Patricia Park) and mixed league volleyball (Lacoste Gym) in St. Bernard Parish. His passion extended to coaching, where he took immense pride in guiding his sons through football and baseball at Rebel Park. Alvin found his greatest joy in spending time with his family, particularly his beloved wife. His love and devotion were evident in every moment they shared together. Alvin found immense happiness in being a father, and later a grandfather and great-grandfather, showering his family with unconditional love and support. He will be deeply missed by us all.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, September 19 at the Sicilian Room at Rocky and Carlos Restaurant, 613 West St. Bernard Highway, Chalmette, LA 70043 from 5:30-7:30 pm.
