

Anthony “Tony” Vincent Valenti, 78, of Lacombe, LA, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 27, 2023 at his home in Lacombe. Tony was a lifelong resident of Saint Bernard Parish until he relocated to Saint Tammany following Hurricane Katrina.
He was born on November 9, 1944, in New Orleans, LA, to Anthony Valenti (1915-2003) and Clara Louise Bretey Valenti (1916-2004). In 1947, the Valenti family relocated to suburban Saint Bernard Parish. Tony graduated from Chalmette High School and after a 37-year career in Saint Bernard refineries, he retired in 2000. He lived a full and meaningful life. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, fixing “things” and spending time with his family.
Tony is survived by his wife, Elena Besalu Valenti, his three children: Elizabeth Lia Valenti, Anthony V. Valenti, Jr. (Stacy) and Holly Clara Valenti; his 4 grandchildren: Ava Marie Valenti, Sarah Joy Graham, Anthony V. Valenti III and Haley Alyssa Pettingill; his sister Ann Valenti Thome and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews, not to mention the friends and neighbors he has touched along the way. Tony is preceded in death by his parents Anthony Valenti and Clara Louise Bretey Valenti, his brother-in-law Elden Charles Thome and his best friend and K9 constant companion, Allie-ma-gator. We will cherish the memories of Tony and the impact he had on our lives. May he rest in peace.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation for Tony on Wednesday, July 5, 2023, at St. Bernard Memorial Funeral Home, 701 W. Virtue Street, in Chalmette, from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM. A funeral service will begin in his memory at 1:00 PM. He will be laid to rest in St. Bernard Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Tony’s name to the Pontchartrain Conservancy at https://scienceforourcoast.org, an organization dedicated to restoring Louisiana’s wetlands; a cause that was dear to Tony’s heart.
