Audrey Butler Bordelon

Audrey Butler Bordelon, a cherished soul, passed away on Sunday, December 31, 2023, at the age of 86. Born in New Orleans, Louisiana, on March 31, 1937, Audrey was a proud graduate of Francis T. Nicholls High School in 1955 and a longtime resident of St. Bernard Parish. She was a dedicated business owner, homemaker, and a source of unwavering love and support for her family and friends.

Audrey's life was beautifully intertwined with that of her husband, the late Richard A. Bordelon Sr., to whom she was married for 64 years. She was a devoted mother to Richard A. Bordelon Jr. (Lavonna), Sharon B. Ripoll (Mitchell), and Kenneth Bordelon (Brandy). Her legacy of kindness and warmth is carried on by her grandchildren—James, Scott, Lisa, Kazia, Kalie, Kyle, Kenneth, and Kelsi—and her great-grandchildren, Ezera, Sadie, Aiden, Rick and Arthur. Audrey's life was further enriched by sister-in-law Lucille Bordelon, her niece, Brenda Trolinger, and numerous other nieces and nephews.

The daughter of the late Robert Lee Butler and Louise Ross Butler, Audrey was also preceded in death by her siblings Samuel Butler, Lena Mae Andrews, Annie Catherine Wilson, Jennie Ruth Lejeune, and William "Buddy" R. Butler (Shelia).

Audrey's passion for game shows, card games, and bingo was more than a pastime; it was a way she connected with and brought joy to those around her. Her warmth, generosity, and the simple pleasure she found in these games will be remembered fondly. Audrey's passing leaves a void that is deeply felt by all who knew her. Her life was a testament to the power of love and caring, and her memory will continue to inspire and comfort us. She will be profoundly missed, but her spirit lives on in the hearts of her family and the many lives she touched.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, January 12, 2024 at 11:00 AM in St Bernard Memorial Gardens. A Celebration of Life will be held in her honor at Rocky and Carlos’ Sicilian Room at 12:00 PM.
