Catherine "Dudy" Melerine Menesses

Catherine “Dudy” Melerine Menesses passed away Monday, January 1, 2024, at the age of 90. She was the loving mother to Donna Cochran (Mickey) and Lori Hix; grandmother to Michelle Robin (Walter), Regina Goettz (Lawrence), and Mickey Cochran Jr.; great-grandmother to Brendon Cochran, Brittany Cruz (Steven), Halie Robin (Todd), Cassidy Robin (Nick), Ravin Cochran, and Claudia O’Neal; great-great-grandmother to Kai Cruz, Eli Cruz, and Cole Topey.

She was preceded in death by her husband Clarence Menesses, son Clarence Menesses Jr., son-in-law David Hix, and her parents Frank and Florence Melerine.

Catherine was a long-time employee of The St. Bernard School System as a cafeteria manager. She was also an experienced seamstress, and she loved sewing for all of us. She made everything from baby clothes to wedding dresses.

In addition, Catherine loved to bake. She made everything from wedding cakes to cupcakes. Her specialty was banana-nut muffins. She accomplished a lot in her 90 years. She was still baking her muffins until the end. She was loved by everyone and will be missed.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation at Our Lady of Lourdes at 2621 Colonial Blvd. Violet, LA 70092 on Saturday, January 13, 2024 from 9:00AM-11:00 AM. Mass will be held at 11:00 AM, and a committal service will follow at ST. Bernard Catholic Cemetery.
