

Claude John Arnold Jr. (aka Gumbo, Dut) passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 2, 2025 at the age of 72. He was the beloved husband of the late Anna Kuhn Arnold. Loving father of Stacey Arnold Belgiovine (Antonio), Angie Marie Arnold (Ronnie Prestenbach Sr.) and the late Amanda Arnold Jeanfreau (Vincent Sr.). Stepfather of Spring Franklin and Jessica Barnett. Proud grandfather of Alyssa Belgiovine (Terrell), Haley Belgiovine, Ronnie Prestenbach Jr. (Falyn), Caleb Prestenbach, Raelynn Prestenbach, Alyssa Jeanfreau, Vincent Jeanfreau Jr., Jackson Dartez, Val Weaver, Kaleigh Hartstuff, Lillian Hartstuff and Cadyn Hartstuff. Great grandfather of Christian Prestenbach. Brother of Debra Rae Arnold Lansou. Son of the late Claude J. Arnold Sr. and BeBe Rae Griffith Arnold. Godfather of Brian Lansou Jr. and Nichole Valenti. He is also survived and fondly remembered by his aunt Linda Chickering, ex-wife Mary Arnold, family and life-long friends.
Born in New Orleans, LA, Claude was a longtime resident of St. Bernard Parish before settling in Poplarville, MS. He was a graduate of Chalmette High School, class of 1972. He dedicated his life to his work as a skilled electrician, building a reputation as a humble, hardworking and honest man who believed in the value of a job well done. He was deeply respected by all who knew him and was known for his generosity and willingness to help others in need. Above all, Claude was devoted to his family. He found joy in the simple moments of life and cared deeply for those around him. He was the pillar of his family, offering strength, courage, and a commitment to the people he loved. Outside of work and family life, Claude was a passionate bowler, enjoying time spent with his friends at the Garden Bowl. He was an active member of the American Bowling Congress and his love for the sport was matched only by his enthusiasm for hunting, fishing, and cooking.
He leaves behind a legacy of kindness, hard work, and devotion. He was a wonderful example of what it means to care for others. His love and laughter will be deeply missed by us all.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial gathering to be held at ST. BERNARD MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette, LA on Saturday, March 22nd from 10:30AM – 1:00PM, followed by a Memorial Mass in Claude’s memory beginning at 1:00PM. He will be laid to eternal rest in a private ceremony.
