Ernesto Matias Toledo Sr.

Ernesto Matias Toledo, Sr. passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by his loving family, on Monday, December 14, 2020. He was 87 years old. He was the loving husband of the late Mirtala Rosa Villanueva Toledo for 60 years. Devoted father of a son, Ernesto M. Toledo, Jr., and daughter, Suyapa M. Toledo. He was the proud grandfather of Collin P. Cusimano. He was preceded in death by his dear parents, the late Francesca Juarez and the late Juan Matias; and by his sisters, the late Marta Simpson (the late Hugh P. Simpson), the late Manuela Juarez, and the late Delia Garcia (the late Fidel Garcia). He is also survived and fondly remembered by the Villanueva family, as well as many nieces, nephews, and dear friends, especially Robert J. Cusimano, Jr.

Ernesto was born in Guatemala and was a resident of Arabi, Louisiana for 40 plus years before moving to Madisonville, Louisiana. He was a kind, giving man, who never hesitated to lend a helping hand to those in need. He will always be remembered for his selflessness, and for the sacrifices he made for his family, whom he loved with all his heart. His memory and his example will forever live on in those whose lives he touched.

The family extends a heartfelt debt of gratitude to Ernesto's friends - you know who you are - who became like family over the years. Your kindness and compassion to our dad will never be forgotten. Services for Ernesto are, respectfully, private.
