

Gladys Ann Guidry Rodriguez was called home by her heavenly father on October 3, 2023. She has joined her husband, Holden, in heaven after 70 years of marriage. Gladys was born on September 14, 1930 in LaPlace, Louisiana. She recently celebrated her 93'd birthday with family and friends.
Gladys received her High School Diploma from Destrehan High School on May 27, 1948, where she graduated with honors. Gladys was an active member of the Destrehan High School Chorus. Her family and friends called her “GG."
After graduating, Gladys moved to New Orleans to work at the shirt factory that made uniforms for the soldiers overseas. She was an excellent seamstress. That is where she met her best friend Marie, who introduced her to Holden. They were married February 16, 1952. Gladys also worked as a typist for Pan American Life Insurance Company until the birth of her first child. She was a homemaker for 30 plus years. After her oldest grandchildren started school, Gladys went to work in the Mail Room of the Sears Credit Central until she retired.
Gladys was a devout Catholic and attended St. Gabriel the Archangel Catholic Church in Gentilly Woods from 1952 - 1962. She became a member of St. John Vianney Catholic church in Arabi; followed by St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church. After Katrina in 2005 devastated her home in Arabi, she became a member of St. Edwards the Confessor in Metairie, La.
Gladys was born to the late Elvire Kliebert Guidry and Anicet Joseph Guidry. She is survived by her sisters Josie & Jane Herbert and her sister-in-law(s) Peggy & Velma Rodriguez, and Earlene Guidry; her daughter, Karen Rodriguez Brown (Raymond)and her son(s), Ronald Joseph Rodriguez (Lee)and Don Patrick Rodriguez (Susan); her grandchildren, Brent Wayne McGough (Gelinda), Michelle Rodriguez Jatho (Norwood), Matthew Joseph Rodriguez (Ali), Shannon Yvonne Rodriguez (Don Russell, Jr.), Khristina Rodriguez, and Brandon Rodriguez (Sarah); her great grandchildren, Trevor McGough, Megan Taylor (Josh), Peyton Callaghan, Hailey Landwehr, Bryson, Mason, Jessica and Jackson Jatho and Kolbe, Annabelle, Remy, Gabe, Cassian, and Julian Rodriguez and Xander Russell; great great grandchildren, Kye and Remi Taylor. She is preceded in death by her brother(s) Cleve (Luella) and Percy Guidry; her sister(s) Edmae Martin (Chester), Elsie Stone (Bill), Cecile Tamburillo (Walter) and Rose Zito (James); her brother-in-law(s) Whitney, Lloyd, Jos. Kearney (Marie), Amos (Janice), Wilson (Marilyn) and Warren Rodriguez; sister-in-law(s) Mildred Ourso (Arthur) and Madeline Gentiles (Jack); her granddaughter Brandi McGough Landwehr; and her great-granddaughter Hannah Landwehr. Gladys will be missed by many nieces, nephews and friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation to be held at ST. BERNARD MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette, LA on Friday, October 13, 2023 from 11:00 AM- 1:00 PM. A funeral service will begin at 1:00 PM. Burial will follow in ST. BERNARD MEMORIAL GARDENS.
