Jacob Fred Wilbur Jr.

Jacob Fred Wilbur Jr. passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 1, 2024 at the age of 81. He was the beloved husband of 47 years to Bonnie Wille Wilbur. Loving father of Jacob Fred Wilbur III. Father-in-law of Sarah Wilbur. Proud grandfather of Aaliyah, Kade, Lilly and Baby Wilbur due in February 2025. Brother of Kathleen Poche (Leon) and Barbara Greschner (George). Son of the late Mae Rose Wilbur and Jacob Fred Wilbur Sr. He is also survived and fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.

Born in New Orleans, LA, Jacob dedicated his life to both his country and his community. He proudly and honorably served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, a testament to his courage and commitment. Following his military service, Jacob enjoyed a fulfilling career with the Hertz Investment Group.

A devoted member of the Andrew Jackson Masonic Lodge 428, Jacob found joy in the fellowship and service provided through his Masonic affiliation. His greatest pleasure, however, came from spending time with his family and friends, and was especially fond of playing with his beloved dog, Kage, who brought him immense happiness.

Jacob will be remembered for his unwavering spirit, his dedication to his country, and the laughter and love he shared with those around him. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

The family extends their deepest gratitude to the staff at Slidell Memorial ICU for their exceptional care during Jacob's final days.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation to be held at ST. BERNARD MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette, LA on Sunday, September 8th from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM.
