Jessie James Mire

Jessie James Mire, age 75, a beloved resident of Chalmette, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on August 19, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Lafayette, Louisiana, Jessie was the son of the late Gille Mire and Annunciade Mire. In the early 1970s, he made his way to St. Bernard Parish, where he built a beautiful life and met the love of his life, his devoted wife, Carol. Together, they shared a bond filled with deep love, laughter, and cherished memories that stood the test of time. Jessie is preceded in death by his siblings Ida, Gladys, Anna, Norris, Clifford, Leroy, and Joseph, and is survived by his brother Pierre and sister Margaret.

Family was Jessie’s greatest joy and his proudest accomplishment. He was a devoted father to his two sons, Troy Mire Sr. (Alisa) and Timothy Mire (Mandy), whom he raised with unwavering love and guidance. He found immense pride in being “World's Greatest Paw Paw” to Troy Jr. (Elizabeth), Taylor (Nicholas), Tori (Samuel), Peyton, and Presli, and his two great-grandsons, Roxas and Nicholas Jr. Jessie’s love extended beyond his immediate family—he was a cherished uncle to Dawn (George), Jessica, Randy, Gabby, and his little man Gus. Beloved brother-in-law of Janet and Randy Mire. Jessie will be remembered not only for his devotion to his family but also for his kind spirit, strong values, and the love he poured into every role he held as a husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. His legacy will live on in the hearts of those who loved him and were fortunate enough to be loved by him.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation to be held at ST. BERNARD MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette, LA on Friday, August 29, 2025, from 9:00AM- 11:00AM, followed by a funeral service in Jessie’s memory beginning at 11:00AM. He will be laid to eternal rest in St. Bernard Memorial Gardens.
