Jewel Rita Mutz LaCour

Jewel Rita Mutz LaCour, 94, passed away on Sunday, January 12, 2025 at her home in Diamondhead MS. Jewel was born on September 4, 1930, in New Orleans LA, to Charles Mutz and Wilhelmina Weixel Mutz. Jewel grew up in a close-knit family in the 9th Ward. Jewel also lived many years in St. Bernard Parish and later, Wiggins MS. She loved gardening, travel, shopping, family meals and family gatherings. She, with Rod, was known for hosting countless get-togethers. Jewel captured the hearts of all who knew her and is loved and missed so very much.

Jewel was preceded in death by her late husband of 49 years, Roderick R. LaCour Sr, and by her parents, and siblings Elmere "Sister", Rodgers, Goldie, Charles Jr.,and Merlin. She is survived by her three children, Bonnie Cannon, Laurie Wheeler (the late Larry), and Roderick "Roddy" LaCour Jr. (the late Anna); her grandchildren Shannon Pulver, Erin McFadden, Gregory Wheeler (Jordan), Emily Clark (Timothy), Brittany Brownell (Brad) and Erica Buuck; great grandchildren Abby Pulver, Gemma McFadden, Tayla Russell, Riley Boudreaux, Skyler Boudreaux, and Ezra Arabie.

Per Jewel's wishes, cremation rites were accorded. A Memorial Visitation will be held at ST. BERNARD MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette, LA on Saturday, February 8, 2025 from 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM. A Memorial Service will begin at 1:00 PM in the Chapel. Inurnment will follow in St. Bernard Memorial Gardens.
