

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of John Jerry Mook, 88, of St. Bernard, Louisiana, who passed away on January 28, 2025. He spent most of his life as the Owner of Master Craft Tile and as a commercial fisherman. John was a passionate outdoorsman, known for his love of duck hunting and fishing. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend, whose adventurous spirit left a lasting impression on all who knew him. He even taught his grandkids the values of hunting and fishing, not just through words, but through the strength, determination, and integrity with which he lived his life.
John was born in Rolla, Missouri, on August 15, 1936, but spent most of his childhood in Chico, California. He is survived by his loving wife, Elenora Mook; his daughter Cynthia Madden (David); his stepchildren Van Robin (Lisa), Robin Harris, and Crystal Thurman (Billy); his siblings Clarence Mook (Suzie), Sheila Rice, and Beverly Brackin; his many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews; and his family friends and hunting and fishing buddies.
John was preceded in death by his son John Mook; his son-in-law Ralph Harris; his sister Sherry McDuffy (Robert).
A visitation for John will be held Saturday, February 8, 2025 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at St. Bernard Memorial Funeral Home, 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette, LA 70043. A funeral service will occur Saturday, February 8, 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette, LA 70043. A committal service will occur Saturday, February 8, 2025 from 12:30 PM to 1:00 PM at St Bernard Catholic Cemetery, 2805-2747, Louisiana, LA 70085.
