Joshua James DeJean

Joshua James DeJean, a student at Northwestern University, passed away on Friday, December 4, 2015 at the age of 19. He was the cherished son of Robert “Bobby” DeJean Jr. and Katherine “Kathy” Holloway DeJean. Brother of Nicole Taylor (Tommy), Justin DeJean and Chris Holloway. Grandson of Edna Wiltz, Robert R. DeJean Sr. and the late Linda Holloway. Great grandson of Betty Miller. Nephew of David Holloway (Amber), Christopher Holloway, Jimmy Holloway (Theresa), Elizabeth “Nan” Cruz (Anthony “Parran”) and Michelle Risher (Scott). Great nephew of Barbara “Bub” and Dickey Stimmel (Vicky), Linda Columbo (Nicholas) and Joseph Carson (Diedra). Cousin of Eli & Travis Holloway, Mercedes, Autumn & Nicholas Holloway, Katherine Pitre, Anthony Cruz III, Madeline Davey, Mallory Cruz and Brett Risher. Also survived and fondly remembered by countless other family and friends who were blessed and touched by Josh.

Josh’s passion has always been in music as he was an accomplished musician who was invited to play in numerous honor bands at Holy Cross and Chalmette High Schools. While at Holy Cross, Josh was the youngest musician to have been selected to play in the Louisiana Music Educators Association All-State Honor Band. He then went on to graduate from Chalmette High School (Class of 2015) as a member of Chalmette High Marching Owls along with all other bands of CHS. After graduating with honors, Josh received a full scholarship in Honors Academics and Music to Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, Louisiana. Josh also especially enjoyed hunting and fishing in the wilderness with his dad and brother.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation to be held at OUR LADY OF PROMPT SUCCOR CATHOLIC CHURCH, 2320 Paris Rd., Chalmette, LA on Wednesday, December 9, 2015 from 11:30 AM - 1:00 PM. A Funeral Mass will begin at 1:00 PM. Interment will be private.
