Proud grandmother of Charles Robin IV (Rita), Russell Serpas Jr. (Amy), Ross Robin Sr. (Shelby), Corey Gonzales (Chloe), Nicholas Serpas (Ashley), Cisco Gonzales Jr. (Alayna), Caitlyn Gonzales Murphy (Devin), and Gabe Robin (Natalie). Great grandmother of Anna’ Lee Robin, Charles Robin V, Jaxon Gonzales, James Serpas, Avery Serpas, Sofia Serpas, Grace Serpas, Mila Robin, Rowan Robin, Luke Serpas, Gianna Gonzales, Wyatt Murphy, Ross Robin Jr. and Cameron Vosbein. She is also survived by her brother Lester Evans Sr, her Aunt Joyce Russell Frey, her Uncle Jack Russell and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends including her dear friends Barbara Serigne and Marie Gullung. She was a retiree from the St. Bernard Parish School System. Joyce dedicated her life to her Catholic faith and was a life long parishioner of St. Bernard Catholic Church serving as a Eucharistic Minister and also on the Pastoral Committee for many years. She was recognized by the Archdiocese of New Orleans with The Order of St Louis IX Medallion for service to the church. She was a dedicated member of The Discalced Carmelites Secular Order (OCDS). She was involved in many prayer groups including the Cursillo/Ultreya movement where she served on the Palanca Team praying for all Cursillo candidates. She was active in the Charismatic movement attending regular prayer meetings at St. Peter Claver Catholic Church and Center of Jesus the Lord in New Orleans, La. She served as a Catechist for High School Confirmation candidates. She dedicated many scheduled hours of prayer in the Adoration Chapel. Because of her passion to serve the Lord she provided spiritual guidance and love to many young girls during her employment at P.G.T. Beauregard High School. She was involved in many church fundraising activities including but not limited to the pumpkin patch and the Caldo festival. One of our fondest memories of mom was when she was determined and succeeded in learning to play the guitar to provide music during the communion services for the residents at St. Rita’s and Simmons Nursing homes. Mom was a beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, friend and prayer warrior for all who were privileged to have known her. During her final days preparing for her journey to heaven, she prayed with us for God’s perfect will and also unselfishly took the time to pray for others. She reminded us, “Don’t be sad, don’t cry because y’all are going to grow from this.” For everyone she ever touched, be comforted in the knowledge that she truly loved all of us. Our angel has finally gained her wings, and she will be sorely missed. The family would like to give our heartfelt thanks to the employees at Ochsner Baptist Diagnostic Radiology Dept., Ochsner Oncology Dept., Interim Healthcare Hospice, Father Anton Phan, and Father Hoang M Tuong. Also special thanks to Nurse Sheri, Ginger Mays, and Roxanne Pichon for their loving care during her final days.
Relatives, friends and employees of St. Bernard Parish School System are invited to attend a visitation to be held at St. Bernard Catholic Church, 2809 Bayou Road, St. Bernard, LA on Saturday, March 2, 2024 from 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM.
