Lance Joseph Coppersmith, 32, of Chalmette, passed away on Tuesday, April 6, 2021 peacefully with his family by his side. Lance was the loving father of Tyler and Peyton Coppersmith; beloved son of Lonnie and Lisa Coppersmith; devoted grandson of Maudine Duhon; cherished brother of Treasure Coppersmith Burtchaell (Billy), and Marlene Coppersmith (Johnny); loving boyfriend of Melany Romero (Avery); Uncle of Michael, Marissa, Lonni, Billy, Scotti, Diamond, Taylor, and Tori; and beloved brother-in-law of Jeremy, Michael, and Brandon. He also leaves behind the mother of his children, Casey Johnson, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Lance is preceded in death by his mother, the late Crystal Duhon Kelly; his sister, the late Cristy Kelly; his grandfather, the late Roland Duhon; his grandmother, the late Marlene Tully Kelone, and his grandfather, the late Ken Ashby. Lance was born in New Orleans, LA to Crystal Duhon and Lonnie & Lisa Coppersmith on May 4, 1988. He was a dedicated Boat Captain and Tankerman for Bell Chase Marine Transportation for fifteen years. “It broke our hearts to lose you, but you never went alone, for part of us went with you the day God took you home.”

Relatives and friends are invited to attend an evening visitation on Wednesday, April 14, 2021, at ST. BERNARD MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 701 W. VIRTUE STREET, in Chalmette, from 5:00 PM – 9:00 PM. A morning visitation will be held on Thursday, April 15, 2021, from 9:00 AM – 11:00 AM, followed by a funeral service in his honor at 11:00 AM. He will be laid to rest in St. Bernard Catholic Cemetery. Please be mindful that face coverings are required, and physical distancing is encouraged, at all times while inside the funeral home.

Lisa, I am SO SORRY to hear this about your Son, if I were closer to you, I sure would be there. I don’t drive that far too much & especially at night. Pray to him because you now have an “ ANGEL” in Heaven.

Lonnie and Lisa Treasure and Molly, I did not have the honor nor the privilege to meet y'all handsome son and you girls' brother who's now your heavenly angel but my condolence and thoughts and prayers go out to you guys I love you guys with all my heart and I cannot imagine the pain of the loss of a child as well as a sibling but I'm here for you girls as well as Lonnie and Lisa.
