died peacefully on Wednesday, August 20, 2025 at the age of 78. Born on the Utila Cays on October 17, 1946, Mary was the beloved child of Hubert and Rhoda Howell. She spent most of her life in Chalmette, Louisiana and was a cherished member of the community. She will be remembered for her infectious laugh, unwavering kindness and dedication to family.
Mary was an accomplished baker, seamstress and crocheter, finding joy later in life in playing bingo and other games with her friends at the Council on Aging.
Mary is survived by her children Samuel Howell III, Wendy Howell, Gaboury Howell, Gary Howell, Brandin Prather, Meridee Diamond, and Bonnie Howell. Her grandchildren Matt, James, Maggie, Micheal, Hailey, Gabe, Ethan, Jacob, Kari, and Cory. Her great-grandchild Rene Governale. As well as family and friends in Honduras.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial service to be held at St. Bernard Methodist Church, 115 E. D' Amour St., Chalmette, LA on Saturday, September 6, 2025 beginning at 3:00 PM.
