Mary Ellen "Jerrie" Ruth Leroux

Mary Ellen “Jerrie” Ruth Leroux passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 21, 2023 at the age of 90. She was born on April 24, 1933 in New Orleans, Louisiana and lived most of her life in St. Bernard Parish, Louisiana. She was predeceased by her loving husband of 49 years, Raymond Joseph Leroux, and her two sons, Mark Jude Leroux and David Raymond Leroux.

She is survived by her four children, Cheryl L. Cassou, Helena L. Ruegger (Bill), Raynell L. Freeman (Ronnie), and Raymond L. Leroux (Judy). She is also survived by her 10 grandchildren, Sherrie Hoffman (Marc), Michelle Cook (Tommy), Melanie R. Balakrishnan (Arun), Daniel Ruegger (Rianne), Nicholas Ruegger (Casey), Molly F. Wheeler (Jackson), Jacob Freeman, Raymond L. Leroux Jr. (Raychelle), Erica Curry, and Shauna Leroux, along with 14 great-grandchildren, all of whom she lovingly adored.

She was a lifelong homemaker, a loving wife, and a loving mother and grandmother. Her passion was the sport of bowling. She was an active league bowler until the age of 86 and over the years she loved traveling with all “the girls” to local, regional and national bowling tournaments around the U.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation to be held at ST. BERNARD MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette, LA on Thursday evening, January 11, 2024 from 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM and Friday morning, January 12, 2024 from 9:00 AM – 11:00 AM. A Funeral Mass will begin at 11:00 AM. She will be laid to rest in St. Bernard Memorial Gardens.
